Multi-Cultural Approaches To Play Therapy
Was A Success!

We enjoyed a great location and lunch through the Nativo Lodge in Albuquerque!

Dominique Eugene, MA LMFT RPT-S
Dominique illustrated the importance of multi-cultural awareness in counseling and how to effectively reach the African-American population through play therapy.
Luis Vargas, Ph.D. Psychologist
Dr. Vargas impacted us with the insight we need to have in working with the Latino population. He guided us in understanding that we must allow the client to teach us about their culture, rather than assume we already understand it.

Geri Glover, Ph.D. LPCC NCC RPT-S

Dr. Glover taught on her area of expertise as she spoke on play therapy with Native American children.  She presented  highly relevant information on how to effectively counsel and understand the Native American culture.

We were happy to welcome members of NMAPT and non-members from all across the state!  We were able to provide toys for local play therapy rooms through raffle prizes, as well as, information about how NMAPT is working in New Mexico for it's members through our lunchtime membership meeting.

If you missed us this year.....then stay tuned for next year!  The NMAPT Board already has plans in the works for our 2009 NMAPT Annual Conference.  See you then!
