KELSIE BACON My name is Kelsie Bacon and I am a license master clinical social worker who is currently working towards obtaining my independent license as well as my RPT. I have been working with children and families for a little over two years in school and office settings. I became interested in play therapy when a good friend and previous coworker believed that I had the personality, skills, and energy that would make for a good play therapist. Since beginning to work with children I have begun learning as much as possible about play therapy. I have done volunteer work with the New Mexico board of play therapy for about a year now as a student volunteer and now a professional member serving on the membership committee. I have attended both the APTNM annual conference and the APT national conference in the last year. I will be volunteering at this year's upcoming NMAPT conference. I am eager to contribute my skills to the New Mexico board of play therapy and help to spread the word of the wonders of play therapy.

MARIAELENA JAUREGUI-CROSS My name is MariaElena Jauregui-Cross. I am a LPCC, hold an Infant Mental Health endorsement at level 3, and am currently working towards becoming a RPT-S. I fell in love with Play therapy during my internship and have continued to grow my skills since. There are a number of ways I spread the word about Play Therapy. First, I use it daily with children and families I work with. Second, our agency is a training site for providing an introduction to Play Therapy for bachelors and masters students. Finally, our agency is registered as APT continuing education hour provider and we put on an annual conference that enables therapist in NM and surrounding areas to continue to earn CE’s towards their registration. I would like to work with others in the state to continue learning about and advocating for Play Therapy.

NOMINEE FOR STUDENT BOARD MEMBER (1 OPEN POSITION)

KILEY SYLVESTER My name is Kiley Sylvester, and I would like to take the opportunity to nominate myself for a student representative position as a member of the NMAPT Board of Directors. I am now a member of APT/NMAPT, and am looking for more opportunities to meet and learn from others in the play therapy field as well as take part in the community as much as I can. I have a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of New Mexico with a major in Psychology and a minor in Family Studies, and have recently been accepted as a graduate student pursuing my Master of Arts degree in Counseling at Adams State University (though I will still be located in New Mexico at this time). I have been most interested in working as a counselor for children and teens for as long as I have been studying Psychology, and a couple of years ago play therapy was introduced to me, and has become a huge passion of mine. I have experience shadowing Robyn Rausch LPC (TX), LPCC (NM), and RPT in individual therapy sessions at Southwest Family Guidance Center, as well as within an elementary/middle school environment, and have also volunteered with the parent-group therapy sessions at Southwest Family Guidance Center as well. My experience and education thus far has taught me so much about who I want to be as a therapist, and has only solidified my interest in play therapy and how valuable I believe it can be in working with kids. I am excited to become more involved in the Play Therapy community, and am looking forward to learning as much as I can. Thank you for this opportunity.
